PHASE I – EARLY RECOVERY: 15 TO 30 DAYS

When addicts decide to begin their recovery journey, the earliest days can leave them the most vulnerable. Therefore, A Better Life Recovery has a recommended set of treatment phases that were designed specifically with our clients in mind.

Our Orange County inpatient rehab clients typically come to their first phase of treatment after having just left their medically-supervised detox setting. More often than not, they are still physically stressed and mentally confused. They may even always be experiencing withdrawal symptoms of a less-severe nature.

The paramount goal of our first phase is to introduce a foundation of support to our clients and create a baseline set of goals for their continued recovery process. Phase I is supervised 24/7 by our treatment staff to provide these newly-sober clients with a safe, comfortable, and structured setting that is vital in the first days of recovery.

MEET WITH OUR LICENSED PSYCHIATRIST

In Phase I, our Orange County inpatient rehab clients meet with our licensed psychiatrist, who will perform a full psychiatric assessment, diagnose any existing mental conditions, and prescribe regimens to help the client reach stabilization. These regimens may include but are not limited to, medications such as mood stabilizers, antidepressants, or even newly developed therapies such as the Vivitrol shot. Clients will also meet their assigned psychotherapist, begin the individual therapeutic process, and start developing an overall treatment plan.

In Phase I, we aim to help our clients maintain their motivation to stay sober and continue their journey of recovery. During this phase, they are under the 24/7 care of our trained staff in our Joint Commission Certified Orange County inpatient treatment facilities. Other certified counselors and designated case managers all work together to create and carry out the best courses of treatment for our clients.

During Phase I, clients will get to know their housemates and also be introduced to the 12-step program and process. It is generally expected that clients from our inpatient rehab treatment will complete steps one through three of the chosen 12-step program before transitioning to Phase II. When ready and medically cleared, clients can begin to focus on creating new, healthy habits such as participating in physical activities such as yoga and visits to the nearby 24-Hour Fitness center.
