Cindy Connelly, MFT
Clinical Director
Cindy Connelly has more than 25 years personal experience in the field of recovery. After many years of management experience in the insurance industry, she returned to school to obtain her Masters Degree in Psychology at Chapman University in Orange, CA. Since 1999, she has been in management positions in residential, extended care, and intensive outpatient care, while continuing to maintain her private practice in Fountain Valley, Ca. Her passion and experience have allowed her to develop and oversee treatment programs that directly address issues of alcohol and drug addiction, trauma, eating disorders, and relationship addiction while also addressing dual diagnoses such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorders. Her dedication to working with both the individual and their families allows her to address the overall wellbeing of each and every client.
“Addicts and alcoholics are not bad people. They are sick and lack the coping skills necessary to navigate the complex lives we all live these days. Our job is to believe in them until they can believe in themselves, giving them the love and respect they deserve. Identifying and understanding their underlying issues as to why they use drugs and alcohol as coping mechanisms is essential for healing. We can educate them and arm them with the skills, but it is their courage and belief in themselves that will carry them to a life free from their addiction.”

Her work experience includes 3 years of dual diagnosis treatment, 4 years of intensive outpatient (IOP) group facilitation, which includes 2 years as a director of IOP. Gena dedicates herself to individual care for each client, to teach them how to love themselves again, to teach them who they are and why they matter. By using evidence based material she teaches the clients about self-esteem, practical life skills, and finding balance. Gena focuses on helping clients work on the underlying issues that have led them on the path to addiction.
